IRS Tax Audits

IRS Notice

IRS Targeted Response

IRS Targeted Response

The IRS announces the beginning of a tax audit by mail.  Not email or telephone calls (these are fraudulent pranks).   The IRS Notice may be for additional documents or announcing the beginning of an audit.  Based on the IRS request, we will design a plan and response.

IRS Targeted Response

IRS Notices have not only a request for additional documents when audits are announced or tax assessments are reported, but also include a way to respond and a timeline within which response must be received. Sending the wrong response or the right response to an incorrect address or number will delay the IRS review and increase the likelihood of matters getting unnecessarily convoluted.

Agreement with IRS

IRS Targeted Response

Agreement with IRS

Upon responding to the IRS Notice and, as needed, discussing the requested documents and details and analysis the an agreement is reached with the IRS based on Tax Law and the facts of the case.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at angel@alopezadvisors.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Responses to the IRS must be timely and targeted or responsive to the notice.  Give our office a call or write an email in order for out office to act immediately.  We will request from you authorization to represent you before the IRS. Once we are engaged in your representation, we will look at all documents, conduct interviews and develop a plan of action and response.

If you owe the IRS money you must pay.  However, we will take a look at the NIRS Notice because, yes, the IRS may be missing information or even be making a mistake and the notice is your opportunity to clarify and resolve the issue.  Once resolved, the IRS will send a revised notice explaining the status of the the original notice and removing the assessment, if the assessment was incorrect based on the evidence presented.

In the event that you had reportable taxable income and did not file, you must re-create the tax return in order to enter discussions with the IRS.  In this situation, we can explain the reason, if any, for not filing and then discuss the tax events based on recreated returns.
